There’s something special about a score that slowly pulls you into the world of a film. From the very beginning of When the Sun Sets, I knew I wanted the music to feel like it was living inside the story itself — dark, emotional, atmospheric, and deeply human.
I’m excited to officially announce that the When the Sun Sets Original Motion Picture Soundtrack is now available to purchase on my website.

About the Film
When the Sun Sets is a noir-inspired short film directed by Brandon Hendrix. The story follows detective Cass as she becomes consumed by the cold case surrounding her sister’s death, forcing her to confront grief, obsession, morality, and the weight of truth itself.
The film blends classic noir inspiration with a modern setting, touching on themes such as addiction, loss, immigration, and personal bias. Visually and emotionally, it immediately pulled me into its world, and I wanted the score to feel equally immersive.
Creating the Soundtrack
This score became one of the most challenging and rewarding projects I’ve worked on.
I spent weeks building the sound of the film, experimenting with atmospheric jazz textures, noir-inspired saxophone passages, ambient synth layers, piano, distorted sound design, and emotional themes that could evolve naturally alongside the story.
The opening track, Cold Case, took days to shape properly. I wanted the first moments of the soundtrack to immediately establish the lonely black-and-white noir atmosphere surrounding Cass and the unresolved mystery of her sister’s death.
Other tracks pushed me in completely different directions. Some moments demanded tense and aggressive energy during the film’s chase sequences, while others became deeply emotional reflections centered around memory, regret, and grief.
Even though the soundtrack moves through different moods and styles, I worked hard to make the entire album feel connected through atmosphere and texture. Whether it’s the saxophone-driven noir themes, ambient electronics, or emotional piano moments, every piece was designed to feel like part of the same world.
A Soundtrack Built Around Storytelling
More than anything, I wanted When the Sun Sets to feel emotionally honest.
This isn’t just background music — every track was written specifically around character perspective, emotion, and tension within the film. The score follows Cass through obsession, isolation, uncertainty, anger, and ultimately acceptance.
Tracks like:
Cold Case
One Last Photograph
Silent Witness
What It Cost
Case Closed
all reflect different emotional stages of the story while still maintaining the dark noir atmosphere at the center of the film.
The final credits piece, When the Sun Sets, brings everything together through smoky saxophone melodies, jazz guitar, piano, and atmospheric textures inspired by classic noir cinema.
Thank You
Huge thanks to Brandon Hendrix and everyone involved with the film for trusting me with the score. This project pushed me creatively in ways I didn’t expect, and I’m incredibly proud of how everything came together.
I hope you all enjoy listening to the soundtrack as much as I enjoyed creating it.
